Calling all k-8 students with oxford schools!
Eloquentia is now opening its doors to kindergarten through eighth grade students! Students who send in their art and/or writing will see their work in the "Up-and-Coming" section of each publication. Submission requirements are the same and can be found online underneath the Submit tab.
This new initiative gives younger students a chance to explore their creative and artistic side before life adds the stress of high school, deadlines, AP work, and standardized testing. At this point in childhood development, a creative outlet is incredibly important for self-health, expression, and innovative thought. Our goal is to foster an interest in the arts that often gets lost because of preconceived notions about talent and/or experience. We here at Eloquentia believe that talent in the artistic field only plays a small role in the eventual success of a student-- continual practice and submission to the magazine can help a child's confidence and passion grow exponentially. All levels of experience are therefore encouraged and accepted.
Teachers and adults are encouraged to talk with students about submitting their artwork and give them little nudges on the way to success. Our student editors and submission managers are fully equipped to help present the best work possible while also nurturing a love for the arts. Suggestions and corrections will be given with the utmost thought and respect; interpretation will be left up to the artist. Many of the same benefits that apply to high schoolers also apply to those in K-8, such as exposure to the editorial process, a platform to showcase your talent, and an outside look and perspective to one's art.
Deadline is June 1st, 2019 at 11:59PM.
